Guest Service Team Member

The Guest Service Team Member is primarily responsible for the care of the dining hall during the week and/or weekend. Duties include preparing the dining hall for meals, cleaning and disinfecting, washing dishes, organizing the kitchen, helping prep meals for service, ensuring all details are well taken care of. GSTMs will work closely with other camp staff to ensure our guests receive the highest level of hospitality and all meeting spaces are ready. GSTMs will help as needed with all group needs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Be in the dining room before the start of the meal for table set up according to the group's needs.
  • Make coffee, re-supply, and clean beverage counter if necessary.
  • Be present at meals for group questions and field them to the appropriate staff.
  • Assist in serving the meal as needed by the Food Services Manager. This may include some meal prep.
  • Take out trash, compost, and recycles. Re-line cans. Call maintenance to take out trash.
  • Clean dining hall windows and doors when needed.
  • After guests have left the Dining Hall following meals, clean and check for cleanliness, wipe down tables and chairs, sweep, mop, and reset tables for next meal.
  • Check, restock, and clean public bathrooms before and after meals in dining hall, gatehouse, chapel, and craft house.
  • Attend to group needs, as requested, around camp. This may include program responsibilities as training by authorized persons – i.e. Archery or Zipline
  • Wash and store dishes, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all dish washing areas.
  • Sweep kitchen floor after each meal.
  • Sweep and spot mop dining room floor.
  • Mop kitchen floor after last meal of the day.
  • Prepare and clean pans, cleaning cloths, and spatulas for each table.
  • Clean and maintain outside trash and mop storage.
  • Assist the Food Service Manager and/or cook in any duties as requested in order to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation. Be flexible and accommodating.

Qualifications:

  • Food Handlers Certification.
  • Must possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people, including community groups, participants, campers, and staff in an affable, concerned, and caring manner.
  • Must display the ability to and be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks at hand.
  • Self-motivated and have ability to motivate others.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Detail oriented, accurate and precise.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with strong team player attitude.
  • Capable of maintaining high level of integrity.
  • Energetic, personable, and dependable.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to hazards relating to assigned vehicles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to understand written information.
