Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree, study, or experience in social work or related field
  • Administrative management experience, including supervising staff
  • Ability to work with persons in emotional crisis and to do work under stress
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with clients, staff, and volunteers alike
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable "clean" DMV record (5 years)
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures, a Salvationist preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and TSA Social Service Software

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, monitor and evaluate all Social Service Programs
  • Identify, plan, organize, and implement social service activities in order to maximize services provided to those in need
  • Recruit volunteers for the Family Services Dept, providing training, scheduling, and supervision
  • Ensure all clients are assisted in a timely manner, providing the actual assistance when others are not available
  • Complete monthly reports, statistics and balancing of funds
  • Seek new resources and serve as a liaison between TSA and various agencies, especially Christian Counselling Professionals who will have a regular presence in our Family Services building
  • Evaluate existing programs by developing outcome measures and recommending improvements
  • Design new programs, as needed, and develop outcome measures for evaluation and funding source accountability.
  • Organize and assist in the seasonal assistance programs (food and gift collection/distribution, etc.), ensuring they run efficiently and effectively
  • Organize the food pantry area, ordering/purchasing food as needed, collecting/organizing donated product, ensuring it is well run and has appropriate supplies
  • Maintain an accurate information stream that meets the needs of clients and program participants as well as work with staff to ensure that all who come to The Salvation Army are treated fairly, compassionately, and are exposed to the love of God.
  • Coordinate staff training and development
  • Monitor the activities of assigned personnel, ensuring adequate communication with all staff relating to adherence to Army policy and their particular job descriptions, preparing annual salary/performance reviews
  • Be available for prayer or counselling with clients as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and related to the position of Family Service Coordinator.

Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
