Army Lake Camp Seasonal Position

This is a seasonal position (June 7, 2026-August 1, 2026).

The Program Support Staff are responsible for providing support by carrying out essential tasks that promote a smooth and efficient camp environment. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in the dish room, supporting housekeeping duties in common areas, assisting with dining room setup, service, and cleanup, and support the overall mission and ministry of the camp through consistent behind-the-scenes service.

About the Role

Training & Meetings

  • Complete all required pre-camp training to the satisfaction of the Program Manager and Divisional Youth Officers.
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled staff meetings and assigned evaluations with leadership staff.
  • Carry out all Recreation Counselor assignments as directed by the Program Manager.

Dish Room & Kitchen Support

  • Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Always maintain a clean and organized dish room.
  • Assist kitchen staff with trash removal and end-of-day cleaning as needed.
  • Follow all health, hygiene, and food safety guidelines.

Housekeeping Support

  • Clean and maintain dining room, fellowship hall, motel, restrooms, and other common areas as assigned.
  • Sweep, mop, disinfect surfaces, and replenish supplies.
  • Empty trash and recycling, replacing liners and ensuring proper disposal.

Dining Room Support

  • Assist with meal setup, including utensils, filling drink stations, and preparing serving line.
  • Support meal service by serving meal to campers.
  • Assist with post-meal cleanup.
  • Help reset dining room between meals.

Facility Care

  • Maintain equipment and facilities, reporting repair or maintenance needs promptly to the Program Manager.
  • Help clean and sanitize cabins and shared spaces at the end of each camp session.
  • Keep personal living quarters neat and clean at all times.

Program Participation & Support

  • Attend and assist with all camp activities, programs, and ceremonies (including flag-raising and lowering).
  • Participate in worship services, staff devotions, and Sunday services held on and off the campgrounds.
  • Help maintain and strengthen the spiritual emphasis of the ministry of The Salvation Army – Army Lake Camp.

Christian Leadership & Conduct

  • Maintain a servant attitude and function as part of a unified team.
  • Always set a positive Christian example in speech, attitude, and behavior.
  • Help maintain and strengthen the spiritual emphasis of the camp's ministry.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the mission and success of the camp.

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • A heart for ministry and desire to serve in a Christian environment.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Holds current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification or is willing to obtain certification through training provided at Army Lake Camp.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must reside on campgrounds for the duration of employment.
  • Demonstrates initiative, dependability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and flexibility in adapting to changing priorities.
  • Supports and upholds the mission, philosophy, and objectives of The Salvation Army and Army Lake Camp.
  • Displays a genuine passion for ministry and for serving and mentoring youth in a Christ-centered environment.
