Legal Services College Intern

The Law Student Intern position will support the Water and Natural Resources section of the Legal Services Department. Duties include researching issues related to SRP's core business of the care, maintenance, and operation of a U.S. owned federal reclamation project, water rights, and water delivery to SRP's shareholders within its reservoir district and other users.

The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.

The position will support attorneys in SRP's Legal Services Department, with an emphasis on research and analysis, legal writing and the preparation of various agreements related to SRP's role as a leading provider of water and electric power in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Candidates should have an interest in researching legal and policy issues related to subjects affecting water providers such as natural resources, environmental issues, power generation, corporate governance, land, and water rights.

Candidates should possess a willingness to work with others, leverage expertise acquired in law school and professionally and be personable with strong oral and written communication skills. Candidates should be familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, and Outlook.

Only students enrolled in their second year of full-time study at an ABA-accredited law school are eligible to apply for the Law Student Intern position.

Candidates should provide a 1 to 2 page writing sample. Education: One year of courses completed at an ABA-accredited law school plus current enrollment as a 2L.

Candidates should have an interest in developing skills related to researching legal and policy issues, critically thinking through solutions, and presenting such solutions in oral and written communications to support SRP's core business functions.

Candidates should demonstrate interest in water, property, environmental, and administrative law, as well as an interest in corporate law and governance.

Candidates should also demonstrate a strong desire to prioritize the success of the team over their personal goals, a willingness to work with others, leverage expertise learned in school and professionally and be personable with strong oral and written communication skills.

Candidates should be familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams, and Outlook.
