You will be:

The Manager, Alterations Workroom is the strategic and operational leader responsible for driving business performance, delivering exceptional client experiences, and developing high-performing teams in alignment with Saks' brand standards. This leader ensures that all store operations, merchandising, and talent practices contribute to a best-in-class luxury retail environment for a workroom, store or dual stores.

What you will do:

  • Champion a culture of personalized, white-glove service that reflects Saks' commitment to luxury and client obsession.
  • Inspire the store team to cultivate long-term client relationships through consistent, high-touch engagement and service excellence.
  • Ensure all team members are equipped to anticipate client needs and deliver seamless, memorable experiences across channels.
  • Partner with Client Development and Marketing teams to activate clienteling strategies, in-store events, and local outreach.
  • Oversee daily operations of the central workroom hub, store or multiple stores including scheduling, workflow prioritization, and adherence to SLAs.
  • Ensure all alterations meet quality standards through regular audits, training, and customer feedback reviews.
  • Partner with logistics and inventory teams to streamline garment flow between stores and the central hub.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of alterations staff across the region.
  • Provide coaching, training, and career development pathways for tailoring professionals.
  • Champion a culture of inclusion, belonging, and high performance.
  • Monitor KPIs (turnaround time, customer satisfaction, quality issues) and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support implementation of enterprise-wide alterations tools, tech, or process enhancements.

What you will bring:

  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in tailoring, alterations, or luxury garment services, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, tailoring techniques, and luxury apparel standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate distributed teams.
  • Highly organized, with experience managing workflow in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across corporate and field stakeholders.
  • Experience launching or scaling centralized service hubs or regional alterations centers is preferred.
  • Background in luxury or couture fashion design is preferred.
  • Direct experience managing unionized or highly skilled artisan workforces is preferred.

Salary and other benefits:

The yearly salary range for this position is between 73,000 to 79,000. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include market, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. We offer the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, basic life insurance, supplemental life insurance, disability insurance, and a variety of additional voluntary benefits (such as critical illness, hospital and accident insurance).
