Senior Backend Software Engineer

This is a hybrid role located in Austin, TX. Due to FedRAMP requirements, candidates for this role will need to be a US citizen residing on US soil.

SailPoint is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help build a new cloud-based SaaS identity analytics product. We are looking for well-rounded backend or full stack engineers who are passionate about building and delivering reliable, scalable microservices and infrastructure for SaaS products.

As one of the first members on the team, you will be integral in building this product and will be part of an agile team that is in startup mode. This is a unique opportunity to build something from scratch but have the backing of an organization that has the muscle to take it to market quickly, with a very satisfied customer base.

Responsibilities

• Deliver efficient, maintainable, robust Java based microservices.
• Produce designs and rough estimates, and implement features based on product requirements.
• Collaborate with peers on designs, code reviews, and testing.
• Produce unit and end-to-end tests to improve code quality and maximize code coverage for new and existing features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong Java experience.
• Great communication skills
• BS in Computer Science, or a related field
• Comprehensive experience with object-oriented analysis and design skills
• Comprehensive experience with an object-oriented programming language and techniques
• Comprehensive understanding of Java Frameworks

Preferred

• Experience with AWS
• Experience with Continuous Delivery
• Experience working on a Big Data/Machine Learning product
• Experience instrumenting code for gathering production performance metrics
• Go experience is a plus

What Success Looks Like in this Role:

Within the first 30 days you will:

• Complete onboarding with HR
• Complete dev environment set up
• Merge and deploy first PR
• Make more contribution through resolving bug or tech debt tickets that require minimal domain knowledge and ensure all code changes have proper tests
• Understand team processes and SDLC

By 60 days:

• Take on and drive to completion user stories and bugs that require some domain knowledge
• Collaborate with team by raising question and providing input during team meetings
• Gain high level understanding of technical architecture and various dev tooling (CI/CD, observability)
• Obtain product knowledge for parts that are directly supported by team

By 90 days:

• Contribute to high value company initiative projects
• Provide feedback on pull requests and technical designs
• Actively participate in team's story pointing sessions
• Enroll in team's on-call rotation

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint's differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD): $109,200 - $156,000 - $202,800. Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee's home location.
