Electronics Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Engineer to join our Global Defence Systems team in Wolverhampton. You'll apply your electronic engineering expertise within a multi-functional team, supporting new product introduction (NPI), new business acquisition, technology development, continuity of production, and root-cause failure investigation. This role will see you play a key part in the design, development, and analysis of electronic circuit solutions for actuation systems used in demanding military aerospace environments.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Design, build, test and analyse electronic circuits for new products, balancing technology, reliability, cost, and schedule.
  • Create and define the architecture of electronic products, including design documentation and rationale.
  • Apply Common Circuit Blocks (CCBs) to new designs and define test plans to support system integration and verification.
  • Support bids and proposals through conceptual design of electronics solutions.
  • Investigate electronic faults to component level and manage obsolescence by selecting suitable alternative components.
  • Collaborate on the specification, design, and validation of test equipment.
  • Review supplier design data, including proposals and test reports.
  • Prepare engineering reports and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively within a multifunctional Integrated Product Team (IPT) to deliver project outcomes.
  • Share best practice and contribute to the development of standard work in electronics across Safran sites.

What will you bring to the role? Essential skills:

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience, ideally within aerospace or another safety-critical industry.
  • Strong hardware design and circuit analysis skills with proven problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of brushless DC motor control and power electronics/power supply design.
  • Software experience (e.g. Python, C, LabView, VBA).
  • Understanding of industry standards, best practices, and electronic component supply chain certification.
