Operations Supervisor - Hourly

We are looking for an Operations Supervisor, with responsibility to ensure the daily production & quality requirements are met through effective management of labor and machines, prioritizing safety for all individuals involved, and addressing any environmental concerns. Strong leadership skills and operational expertise is critical in optimizing productivity and maintaining a safe work environment. We offer a First Shift position, Monday through Friday.

Supervisory responsibilities include:
- Hiring, training, and overseeing direct reports.
- Overseeing the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of direct reports.
- Providing constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Supervising personnel as needed.
- Assisting in training personnel as needed.
- Conducting performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Essential functions include:
- Supervisory duties: Train and supervise employees.
- Equipment maintenance: Ensure equipment is maintained to function properly.
- Knowledge of consumer specifications: Obtain and utilize knowledge of consumer specifications.
- Continuous improvement: Improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Achieve sales goals: Monitor and supervise production to ensure daily/monthly sales are met.
- Adherence to regulations: Adhere to environmental and safety regulations.
Other duties/responsibilities include:
- Hold toolbox talks with direct reports at the beginning of every shift.
- Communicate with the direct supervisor on daily production progress.
- Communicate with the maintenance supervisor on any repairs or preventive maintenance needs.
- Handle inventory management, movement, transfers, and inspection.
- Complete monthly safety audits.
- Make sure work areas are clean and accessible.
- Review the Ready-to-Ship calendar daily to make sure loads are good to ship.
Required skills/abilities include:
- Extensive knowledge of scrap metal business and processing.
- Thorough knowledge of consumer specifications.
- Ability to train others how to properly run our equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Qualifications, education, and experience/training:
- Three to five years of related experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license.
Physical requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
