Staff Engineer – DevOps
We're looking for a Staff Engineer – DevOps, a highly experienced and hands-on technical leader in an Individual Contributor (IC) role. You will be responsible for driving architectural decisions, engineering standards, and platform capabilities that improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity across multiple teams and environments. This role is ideal for someone who wants to stay close to technology while leading cross-team initiatives, influencing design patterns, and guiding DevOps best practices across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and security. You will work on a modern stack including Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, and .NET/.NET Aspire-based applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect cloud-native, secure, and scalable infrastructure across Azure and AWS using Terraform, Bicep, and automation frameworks.
- Define platform engineering strategies that enable developer efficiency, self-service, and standardized deployments.
- Provide technical leadership on Kubernetes-based workloads, service mesh, networking, and platform services.
CI/CD Strategy & Enablement
- Design and optimize CI/CD frameworks across services using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and CodePipeline.
- Champion GitOps workflows, pipeline observability, and secure software delivery practices.
- Mentor teams on build/test/deploy automation, including DAST/SAST integrations and release orchestration.
Observability & Reliability
- Drive adoption of observability standards using OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, and CloudWatch.
- Define and implement SLOs, SLIs, and operational readiness frameworks.
- Lead incident retrospectives and drive resilience engineering initiatives.
Technical Leadership & Cross-Team Influence
- Set direction for infrastructure standards, automation patterns, and platform components.
- Guide engineering teams on system design, environment strategy, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with architects, security, SRE, and application teams to ensure alignment across domains.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Research and introduce emerging technologies aligned with DevOps and cloud-native practices.
- Build reusable frameworks and tools that reduce cognitive load for development teams.
- Contribute to technical governance and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.

Technology Stack Expertise
- Cloud: Azure (AKS, App Config, Storage, Key Vault), AWS (EKS, IAM, Lambda, S3)
- Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Terraform, Bicep, Helm, GitOps
- CI/CD: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline
- Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch
Technical Execution
- Deep knowledge of distributed systems, platform architecture, and modern infrastructure patterns
- Strong programming/scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or Go
- Experience with secure SDLC, compliance automation, and vulnerability management
Influence & Communication
- Proven ability to drive cross-team technical decisions as an IC leader
- Clear technical documentation, architecture writing, and developer enablement
- Effective collaboration with engineers, architects, and product leadership
What You Bring
- 12+ years of experience in software or platform engineering, with at least 4+ years in platform/DevOps specialization
- Demonstrated success in leading technical initiatives at scale in an IC capacity
- Passion for modern DevOps, cloud-native design, automation, and enabling teams through platforms
- Hands-on and strategic mindset with a strong bias for building scalable, reliable systems
