Plant Reliability Engineer

What The Role Delivers

The Plant Reliability Engineer provides support for the Röhm America Production Site in Bay City, Texas, Manufacturing Operation comprising the Formalin, MAL, MMA Reaction, and Purification plants, as well as Utilities. This role is responsible for maximizing the uptime of equipment and machinery in chemical plants. This will be accomplished through development and maintenance of an effective Preventative and Predictive Maintenance program. In addition the role will analysis failures to determine root cause and implement effective corrective and preventative actions to prevent reoccurring failures. This role will align closely with related functions within the organization. This position will be located at the Roehm Bay City, Texas, MMA manufacturing facility.

What You Will Do

Decrease equipment failure losses to meet the operational reliability and asset utilization goals for the production site. Develop and drive implementation of a customized reliability plan for each of the assigned production units. Evaluate all plant equipment for criticality and develop risk based reliability strategy documents for plant equipment. Utilize Root Cause Analysis to perform effective problem analysis and root cause elimination on equipment downtime. Lead projects and engage with stakeholders to influence outcomes and champion reliability tools. Troubleshoot equipment for mechanical issues affecting reliability and work with Maintenance Engineering and Technicians to implement improvements. Equipment include, but is not limited to rotating equipment, pressure vessels, piping, and compressors. Support inventory optimization for spare parts and equipment. Initiate and manage MOCs. Maintain Engineering drawings, policies & procedures, and other related site information as changes are implemented by the role. Identify cost savings opportunities. Develop and track key KPI's for maintenance reliability to assess manufacturing performance and identify process improvements. Evaluate maintenance plans (PM's) and procedures for all critical equipment inspection tasks to identify gaps. Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Seeking

B.S. or more advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. 7 or more years of Reliability Engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. Strong technical skills with ability to work collaboratively with other departments and international teams. Technical knowledge in mechanical equipment including the ability to read, understand, and update P&IDs and other technical documents. Actively participate in Process Safety Management work practices such as Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA). Knowledge of ASME and API standards. Knowledge of MTBF analysis, FMEA, RCA and related analysis techniques. Maintenance/Reliability experience with most rotating equipment technologies including but not limited to pumps, motors, compressors, fans, blowers, agitators as well as fixed equipment such as tanks, reactors, heat exchangers etc. Basic understanding of project management, instrumentation and equipment. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, solid team player with the ability to communicate across the organization. Proficiency with SAP maintenance and purchasing modules, process simulation tools and other process engineering applications such as Aspen and related applications. Continuous improvement mindset with the ability and desire to utilize digitalization and new process methods. Excellent communication skills including the ability to present detailed information across all levels of the organization. Must be able to organize and have the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks to meet targeted completion deadlines. Ability to work without guidance or supervision. This position will follow a standard weekly schedule, however availability for weekend and holiday coverage during shut downs and critical use periods may be required. Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders and ability to lift up to 25 pounds Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed shoes, and hearing protection).
