As a Project Engineer, Environmental Conformity, you will lead the company's global Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance strategy across packaging, products, and materials. You will ensure regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, minimized financial exposure, and integration of circularity and ecodesign principles into product and packaging decisions. You will report to Manager, Environmental Conformity and will work Hybrid either in US or Canada Rockwell office location.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor and interpret global EPR regulations across packaging, electronics, batteries, and other regulated streams.
- Develop strategic approaches to address new and emerging EPR requirements and close gaps in existing programs.
- Lead all EPR reporting cycles, including data collection, validation, submission, and audit readiness.
- Maintain internal compliance documentation and support timely fee payments through coordination with Sustainability teams.
- Build and maintain scalable systems for packaging and product data tracking.
- Partner with IT and Business Units to improve data accuracy and automate reporting workflows.
- Develop dashboards and forecasting tools to model EPR cost impacts.
- Analyze EPR fee structures and identify cost-reduction opportunities through material choices, design changes, or operational improvements.
- Provide guidance to packaging engineers and product teams on ecodesign and recyclability requirements.
- Support long-term sustainability and circularity initiatives.
- Serve as the internal expert on EPR and related sustainability regulations.
- Train internal teams on EPR requirements, upcoming legislation, and best practices.
- Collaborate with Legal and Government Affairs on policy engagement and participation in industry coalitions
The Essentials – You Will Have:
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada or US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred – You Might Also Have:
- Typically requires 8+ years of related experience.
- Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Knowledge of ERP systems or enterprise data management platforms.
- Strong understanding and experience of global EPR frameworks and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex regulatory reporting processes and associated software tools..
- Proven project management and cross-functional collaboration experience.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, electronics, or technology sectors.
- Familiarity with life cycle assessment (LCA), recyclability assessments, or packaging design principles.
- Comfort operating in evolving regulatory environments
- Clear accountability for compliance, cost, and data integrity outcomes

This posting is for a newly created position within our organization.
For this role, the total target compensation is from $109,680.00 - $164,520.00 CAD Annual for Canada candidates and $125,840.00 - $188,760.00 USD Annual for US based candidates. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
