Job Description
You will be an IT database engineer to operate, focused on developing solutions in the application space. You will collaborate with partners along with fellow team members and technical engineers in the delivery of business solutions. You will be asked to bring solid expertise with technical capabilities along in how IT can help ensure the Connected Enterprise. You are and able to understand our needs.
You will report to the Team Lead - IT, and work in a hybrid capacity from our base location.
Responsibilities for IT Database Engineer
- Configure, test, and support applications within Rockwell's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) environment (FTPC – FactoryTalk Production Center), focusing on Oracle database functionality.
- Design and modify database objects, including stored procedures and views.
- Develop custom reports and data extracts to meet end-user requirements.
- Collaborate with internal customers and stakeholders in design sessions, offering technical solutions, configuration guidance, and system recommendations.
- Analyze and troubleshoot reported issues, implementing defect fixes and system enhancements.
- Create and maintain monitoring solutions for IT systems; monitor and analyze system and execution logs.
- Provide technical support to internal customers, including periodic on-call coverage.
- Partner with the Digital Manufacturing, Engineering, Data, and Design teams on data analytics requests.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, including knowledge base and user guides.
Qualifications
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering with development teams on database design and optimization strategies.
- Proficient in SQL and relational database management; Extensive experience with Azure SQL Databases and relational data modeling.
- Skilled in query tuning, indexing, and capacity planning to optimize database performance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Understanding of manufacturing environments and processes.
- Experience performing root cause analysis to identify data or process improvement opportunities.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams in dynamic, agile environments.
- Ability to monitor performance metrics and proactively address scalability challenges.
- Education & Experience: Graduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 2+ years in an IT Engineer role.
Preferred Experience
- Reporting tools such as SSRS or Power BI.
- Experience in manufacturing settings.
- SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
- Exposure to other relational databases (e.g., MS SQL).
- Knowledge of programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C#, PowerShell, Oracle Forms).
- Familiarity with code management (e.g., GitLab) and agile tools (e.g., Jira).
- Experience with Azure Data Bricks.
- Understanding of database security, access controls, and data governance compliance.
- Exposure to emerging manufacturing technologies and cloud database platforms (Azure SQL, Oracle Cloud).
