Engineer, Remote Support (IDC)
Join our team as an Engineer, Remote Support (IDC), and play a critical role in keeping global manufacturing operations running smoothly. You'll provide expert remote support for server and storage systems, ensuring reliability and performance in complex data center environments. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on solving challenging technical problems, collaborating across teams, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
This is a hybrid position and is located at our office in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
You will report to the Supervisor, Managed Services.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver remote managed services for data centers in manufacturing environments, bridging industrial and IT systems with technical expertise.
- Administer and maintain Windows Server OS, Active Directory, and performance monitoring tools for server hardware and software.
- Manage VMware environments, including vCenter, ESXi (6.x+), HorizonView, and vSAN, ensuring stability in production systems.
- Provide remote troubleshooting via phone and email for field engineers, distributors, integrators, and customers—resolving complex issues under pressure.
- Investigate and validate software, firmware, and hardware issues; document findings and collaborate with teams to drive resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of all actions, set clear expectations with customers, and create technical documentation to share best practices and solutions globally.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, computer programming, or similar.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
- 2+ years of experience as a VMware engineer in production environments.
- Proficiency with VMware technologies (vCenter, ESXi, HorizonView, vSAN) and Windows Server.
- Familiarity with SAN/vSAN architectures and network switching technologies.
- Scripting skills in PowerShell; experience with Python, Java, or JavaScript is a plus.
- Availability to resolve urgent VMware environment problems outside of business hours.
