The Position

A Roche Field Services Engineer provides vital field service activities for Core Lab Instruments, Molecular Diagnostics, Tissue Diagnostics, and Sequencing by provision and coordination of all activities relating to instrument troubleshooting, instrument installation, instrument preventative maintenance, and software/hardware modifications for both pre and post-sales requirements.

What you will work on:

As a Field Service Engineer, you are required to:

  • Actively involved with the local account management teams and participate in regular team meetings to capture and report all field activities, including labor and travel, via the CRM system.
  • Ensure timely pre-installation inspection and installation of Roche and other analytical systems, working closely with the Regional Engineering Manager and local teams to ensure success.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in a timely manner as per manufacturer guidelines and escalate any overdue maintenance or ongoing instrument issues to the Regional Engineering Manager.
  • Manage spare parts and maintain boot stock accuracy while identifying any training deficiencies.
  • Promote all safety, health, and environmental policies to ensure the wellbeing of all employees and visitors.
  • Ensure compliance with all Roche processes, the Roche Code of Conduct, and Industry Codes of Practice.

Location & Hours:

  • Service support is primarily provided for instruments located within Victoria (VIC) and Tasmania (TAS); however, occasional regional, interstate, or overseas travel may be required.
  • Typical hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
  • Participation in a rotating On-Call Roster is required to cover out-of-hours service (5 p.m. to 9 a.m. weekdays and 24 hours on weekends).

Who you are:

You have:

  • A tertiary degree in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working in field engineering / customer services related fields within the Medical Devices industry, having Diagnostic Industry background a plus
  • Experience or expertise in the Hematology field a plus
  • Experience with IT and Middleware systems with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license

Your strong customer empathy and interaction skills and proven record of accomplishment in data connectivity, troubleshooting and resolution will be an advantage. Full eligibility to live and work in Australia is preferred for this Melbourne-field based role.
