Rippling Partner Platform Engineer
Rippling's Partner Platform is the infrastructure layer that enables accounting firms, insurance brokers, PEOs, and other HR/payroll partners to operate Rippling products on behalf of their client companies. It's a multi-tenant, multi-product platform that sits at the intersection of identity, billing, compliance, and product delivery, and its contracts are load-bearing infrastructure consumed by teams across Rippling's product surface.
As the most senior IC on the Partner Platform team, you will serve as both the technical foundation and the product owner of a platform that is early in its lifecycle. You'll design the systems other engineers build on, own the full-stack partner experience end to end, and drive cross-team initiatives where Partner Platform intersects with authentication, billing, EOR, payroll, and more. This role requires deep hands-on execution, architectural judgment, and the ability to lead through influence across multiple teams.
What you will do:
- Write Exceptional Code: Build scalable, maintainable backend systems and complex data-rich frontend experiences that power critical partner workflows, holding a high bar for performance, reliability, and extensibility.
- Move Fast, But with Precision: Deliver high-quality features and execute large-scale migrations safely, using phased rollouts, observability infrastructure, and safe-by-default engineering practices across many dependents.
- Drive Architecture & Design: Own architectural decisions for Partner Platform's core data models, APIs, and permission abstractions, primitives adopted by teams across Rippling building partner-integrated features.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Product, Design, and engineering leads across adjacent domains to align technical vision and build a coherent partner experience across Rippling's global product surface.
- Mentor & Lead: Raise the engineering bar on a growing team, establish standards, influence architecture reviews across dependent teams, and mentor engineers as the team scales.
- Shape the Future: As a founding member of this team, you'll have a direct influence on team culture, structure, and technical direction from day one.
What you will need:
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including roles where you drove technical direction beyond your immediate team.
- Strong full-stack depth, comfortable leading backend architecture and building complex, user-facing product surfaces; experience with Python/Django and React (or equivalent) is a plus.
- Product Focused: You're not just a coder. You care deeply about the end user, product design, and delivering an intuitive, polished experience.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: You thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured environment. You don't just solve problems; you identify them, own them, and build solutions that have a lasting impact.
- Track record spanning platform and product engineering: designing systems adopted by other teams while also shipping polished end-user experiences.
- Strong technical leadership and communication skills, with proven influence across teams and functions.
