Supervisor - Breast Biopsy Operations

Biopsy Supervisor | Denver Metropolitan Area Reporting to Regional Manager of Clinical Operations Employment Type: Full Time Qualified external candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $15,000

Invision Sally Jobe (ISJ) is a network of imaging centers built and managed through a partnership between Radiology Imaging Associates and HealthOne. Our imaging centers are conveniently located throughout the South Denver area and offer a variety of exams using state of the art equipment. Our services include MRI, CT, digital mammography, ultrasound, pain management, DXA, X-Ray, and image guided biopsies. Our mission is to improve the health of patients in the communities we serve by providing them with the highest quality imaging and associated medical care.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Counsels and consults with patients
  • Prepares patients for exams/procedures
  • Gives patient appropriate radiographs, paperwork, instructions, and information to complete exam
  • Responsible for mammography exams
  • Obtains appropriate mammograms by using correct techniques, equipment, and positioning
  • Responsible for required ultrasound imaging and documentation of images prior to biopsy, during exam, and post procedure imaging
  • Assists radiologist with stereotactic, ultrasound guided breast biopsies
  • Assists in biopsy rooms – hold pressure, apply steri-strips & tegaderm on biopsy site, and apply a pressure biopsy on biopsy site
  • Assists with all pre biopsy and post biopsy care of patients
  • Performs sterile techniques while setting up sterile trays and all biopsy sterile needles
  • Understand exposure to blood borne/pathogen risk
  • Understands patient's medical history and assists the radiologist with the correlation and analysis of the data
  • Interacts and correctly shares patient information with radiologists
  • Completes all related paperwork and computer work for documentation of all procedure information for the radiologists to complete dictation
  • Previews all surgical patient folders and written orders the prior day of their sentinel node biopsy or needle localization or any breast surgical procedures
  • Previews all biopsy patients folder with information, reports, and written orders the prior day of scheduled exam
  • Maintains stocked, neat, and clean area to include work areas and dressing rooms
  • Assists with quality control, compliance and/or OSHA, HIPAA and AAAHC requirements
  • Assists in other office areas as time allows; performs basic clerical functions when required
  • Print films as needed for surgical procedures and stereotactic specimen x-ray, to send with the specimen to the pathology department
  • Assists in training health care professionals (physicians, nurses, RTs and sonographers) to perform percutaneous biopsies
  • Assists in developing protocols as needed
  • Required to respond to medical emergency including administering CPR
  • Assists patients with positioning on exam table and may be required to assist patients to prevent falls
  • Performs QC tests for the handling of the Tc99M isotope on the delivery day
  • Performs required duties of the ASC; pre-ops to all patients at least 2-days prior to exam, complete all required charting for the CSC paper folder
  • Maintains minimum CEU and CME credits
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the daily work schedule
  • Manages staff workflow
  • Performs staff annual reviews
  • Coordinates between RIA and the HCA staff in the Centrum Surgical Center to comply with all regulations
  • Schedules all required radiation safety meetings, staff meetings, and other required events
  • Checks and approve KRONOS timecard for staff
  • Develops and review all Quality Control books on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Assists with patient concerns or complaints

Education Requirements:

  • Requires significant Mammography and Breast Sonography experience
  • Must be a registered technologist in ARRT (M), ARRT (BS)
  • Training in Nuclear Medicine preferred to handle isotope for our breast sentinel node injection. Post-hire training will be provided. Renewal required every 3 years

Compensation for this role between $100,000 and $140,000 on an annual basis.

In accordance with Colorado law, the range provided is Radiology Imaging Associates reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role, and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Applications will be received on an ongoing basis, and this position will remain open until filled.

Full-time employees will become eligible for benefits on the 1st day of the month following 30 days of employment. Part-time employees may have access to some of these benefits, which may be on a pro-rated basis. PRN employees are not eligible for benefits.
