Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer is a technical expert responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software-intensive systems that drive organizational efficiency and innovation. This role integrates software development with systems engineering principles, ensuring that software meets functional requirements while considering hardware compatibility, overall system architecture, and performance goals. The engineer is responsible for the entire system lifecycle, from analyzing user needs and translating them into technical specifications to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. A successful Systems Engineer possesses a strong understanding of software engineering, system architecture, programming, and testing, and is skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Solutions setup including hardware and software.
  • Configuration, deployment, support, troubleshooting of infrastructure solutions and services including, but not limited to:
    • Red Hat Linux or other distribution
    • Windows Server
    • Containers and OpenShift
    • Hypervisor VMWare ESXi and vSphere
    • Database (IBM DB2, PostgreSQL)
    • OpenLDAP, Red Hat IDM
    • Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, etc)
    • Experience with deployment and support of solutions in the cloud (AWS, Azure, Google)
    • SAN Storage (NetApp, Lenovo DM Storage)
    • Be able to use used and develop Ansible Playbooks to set up RHEL builds
    • Be able to provision and troubleshoot Red Hat satellite 6.x or 7.x for both RHEL 7 and 8
    • Ability to author scripts including, but not limited to, KSH, bash, python, java, Ruby.
    • Must have excellent high-level knowledge of LAN networking and troubleshooting
    • Participates in on call rotational third level mission critical support
    • Ability to implement critical solutions real-time
    • Aid in development and review of training materials for new and existing technology
    • Must demonstrate independent open-source skill set, as well as advanced knowledge of popular platforms
    • Ability to travel could be 10% to 15%
    • Must have knowledge of security and auditing procedures and compliance
    • Performing performance tuning on OS and hardware

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent
    • Foundational understanding of software engineering, system components, and programming fundamentals
    • Competence in coding, debugging, and documenting processes
    • Ability to follow technical instructions, communicate with team members, and learn new technologies.

    At IGT, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $44,450 - $103,002. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.

    Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses.
