Utility Operations Manager
We are seeking a Utility Operations Manager in our Mid-Atlantic region. Under the direction of the Operations Director, this position will manage operations of the regional office(s) with accountability for employee safety, customer experience, operational efficiencies, and operating expenses. Candidates must reside in one of the following locations: Mid Atlantic Area between Georgia and New England.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Safety Management: Responsible for all aspects of safety within the assigned region's locations, including compliance with safety and policies. Train Project Managers, Supervisors, and employees and monitor compliance safety policies and procedures; accident avoidance and safety driving, consistently reinforces our safety protocol.
- Utility Customer Experience: Makes customers a high priority; is committed to exceeding the needs of all utility customers. Celebrates excellent utility customer service and recognizes individuals who provide exceptional service to utility customers. Conduct priority utility customer visits to enhance relationships.
- Team Management: Plans, directs, and manages staffing and development of employees by effectively communicating company strategic goals; conducting effective and timely performance appraisals, and ensuring all required training for employees is completed. Monitors employee productivity using various software platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects at various stages of completion.
- Experience in managing gas, water, or electric projects.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and charts, Microsoft Office Suite, and a project scheduling program such as Microsoft Projects or similar.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, training, and organizational skills.
- Experience using Smartsheet is preferred but not required.
- Ability to create reports and dashboards in Power Bi, Excel or other Microsoft applications is preferred.
Education & Experience:
- 2-year college degree in construction management, engineering, or other related field OR 5+ years of experience managing and estimating Utility projects.
- Experience utilizing resource tools to manage capacity, forecast demand, and allocation of employees.
- OSHA certificate (less than 5 years old).
- CPR/First Aid/AED certified Instructor or can obtain within 90 days.
- Working knowledge of electric and gas metering.
- Utility-related certifications are a plus.
Pre-Screen:

License & Certifications:
- A valid Driver's license is required.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be available to travel 50% of time to all locations within the regions and for storm work.
Physical Requirements:
- **RARE:** (less than 10%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, crawling, climbing on/off trucks, climbing poles, gripping, climbing ladders, balancing
- **OCCASIONAL** : (up to 33%): standing, sitting, sense of touch, manual dexterity, seeing distant, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., seeing, reaching, range of motion, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, climbing stairs, lifting up to 10 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs.
