Sr. Completion Engineer

Repsol is hiring a Sr. Completion Engineer to support the Wells Business Unit, to be based onsite from our office in The Woodlands, TX.

Position Title: Sr. Completion Engineer

Department: Wells

Reports to: US Unconventionals Completion Manager

Location: This role is to be supported onsite from the Repsol office located in The Woodlands, Texas. Following the initial training period, the position is eligible for our hybrid schedule, with manager approval. The schedule may be adjusted as needed based on business needs or individual performance.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

  • Planning and engineering of unconventional completion stimulation projects including technical research, procurement of services, cost estimating, and AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) preparation.
  • Completion program design including stimulation, workovers, intervention and abandonments.
  • Ensuring that Repsol maintains a competitive completion advantage through the effective use of technical innovations. Help maximize the transfer of completion technology to other operations, as required.
  • Supply day-to-day technical support during the execution phase of programs.
  • Engineering materials selection and service specification.
  • Preparation of cost estimates, contract scope of work, AFE, purchase requisitions/orders, daily cost certification via SAP.
  • Lead integration efforts to optimize subsurface development (well spacing, cluster spacing, frac designs, etc.) using simulation, data analytics (Spotfire, power bi, etc.) and field pilot results.
  • Proactive collaboration with asset functions and excellence centers to improve the value of new and improved completion technologies.
  • Participate in creating workflows that span from the subsurface disciplines (i.e., petrophysics, geophysics, geology, reservoir engineering) through completions engineering.
  • Provide mentoring to completions engineers in the planning and engineering of completion projects (stimulation, drill outs, flowback, workover, intervention, and abandonment) including technical research, procurement of services, cost estimating, and AFE preparation. Actively participates in Repsol's knowledge share community.
  • Lead benchmark studies to ensure that Repsol maintains a competitive advantage through the effective use of technical innovations, best practices and lessons learned.
  • Delivers technical solutions that utilize available technologies and efficient workflows to optimize development and performance of resource plays.
  • Provides solid technical analysis and facilitates integration and decision-making among functional disciplines.
  • Represent Repsol in Joint Industry Projects and with partners/stakeholders.
  • Leads risk assessments and Management of Change processes for application of innovative technologies or evaluating industry practices that can be applied in Repsol.

Required Education, Experience, Technical Qualifications

  • Full U.S. work authorization without restrictions, conditions, or current/future sponsorship.
  • Petroleum Engineering degree preferred. Alternative engineering degree may be considered depending on specific work history.
  • Minimum of 10 years completions engineering experience and operations in unconventional horizontal completions in US Land Basins.
  • Strong technical and operational understanding around planning and execution of various hydraulic fracturing techniques.
  • Experience in Workover, Well Integrity and Plug & Abandonment projects is preferred.
  • Skilled at working in a highly collaborative manner with Reservoir Engineers, Production Engineers, Drilling Engineers, Geoscientists, Superintendents and Completion Foremen.

Additional Qualifications

  • Well Control certified
  • PowerBI, Openwells
  • SAP experience preferred

Physical / Environmental Demands

  • 10% of time will be spent on location with field operations.
  • Must exhibit safe driving practices and clear driving record for use of pool truck while in the field.
