Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to use their expertise in VMware Horizon and VMWare Cloud Foundation to design, implement, and manage Horizon VDI environments. You will ensure seamless performance, scalability, and security of our VDI solutions while collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to meet business needs. The position is located in Hill AFB, UT.
What You'll Work On:
- Design, deploy, and manage the VDI VMware Horizon environments.
- Assist customers with issues, troubleshoot systems, resolve repair tickets, etc.
- Optimize VDI performance by monitoring resource utilization and implementing best practices for high availability and scalability.
- Configure and manage VDI infrastructure components, including hypervisors, virtual machines, and storage.
- Ensure the security of VDI environments through access controls, patch management, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Automate routine tasks and deployments using scripting languages such as PowerShell.
- Support VDI users by diagnosing and resolving technical issues and providing training as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate with OPS teams to integrate VDI solutions with existing infrastructure and to implement new technologies.
- Stay updated on VDI, VMware, and Windows Server technologies to recommend and implement improvements.
You Have:
- 2+ years of experience managing VMware environments
- Experience with VMware Horizon solutions, VMWare ESXi, VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF), and VDI technologies
- Experience with VDI desktop image build and deployment technologies
- Experience writing CMD scripts, VB scripting, and PowerShell
- Knowledge of Windows server and desktop environments, including Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012/2016, and troubleshooting with VMWare Horizon and Windows OS
- Ability to configure and maintain Group Policies
- Secret clearance
- HS diploma or GED
- VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) certification with the Desktop and Mobility (DTM) track or similar
- CompTIA Security+ certification

- Experience with Zero Trust principles and their application in VDI environments
