Performance Engineer I

The Performance Engineer I works as a member of the Performance Engineer team and is charged to understand the goals/objectives of the team and supports Enterprise Architecture and Shared Services Technology division. The Compass EASST Performance Engineer I is responsible for administering and running load tests for Enterprise level Tier0 and Tier1 applications and work with AppDev team to support ongoing Releases and help with load testing for major upgrades.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with product management, project management and development teams to develop a strong understanding of the project cycles and Performance management objectives.
  • Based on the Application flow, develop load testing scenarios and create scripts.
  • Analyze Application infrastructure during load testing.
  • Coordinate tests with App and Middleware teams.
  • Strong skill set using Load Runner, JMeter testing tools.
  • Ability to perform load, stress and endurance tests.
  • Experience using monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, Zabbix and Cloud watch metrics.
  • Perform deep dive analysis after the load test and make sure to pinpoint all the issues and coordinate with Application and Middleware teams.
  • Experience in Mobile testing would be a great addition.

Consultancy/Customer Service:

  • Complete Service Requests within defined SLAs
  • Set expectations with the customers and communicate progress or blockers
  • Actively participate in cross team collaborations and triage sessions
  • Collaborate with IT teams, project teams, and institutional leadership teams in root problem analysis, solution identification, implementation, and delivery activities
  • Collaborate with IT teams and internal and external customers to understand project requirements and recommend sustainable solutions that meet defined business needs
  • Communicate clearly to technical and non-technical users

Planning and Organization:

  • Plan and execute activities assigned by the team/manager
  • Update tickets on a regular basis and keep leadership informed of work status/progress
  • Independently manage assigned tasks and project components to complete within established timelines
  • Identify and communicate potential business impacts when planning changes to production systems
  • Participate with management and technical teams to establish appropriate project timelines to deliver sustainable solutions within approved time and budget parameters.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Actively identify and communicate opportunities to automate repetitive manual processes

Qualifications:

  • We're looking for candidates who bring a mix of technical expertise, leadership experience, and a collaborative mindset
  • Proven experience managing development teams in an agile environment.
  • Strong technical background in web development, data platforms, and enterprise systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with customer-facing reporting portals
  • Experience with data warehouse/data lake tools such as Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.
  • Experience with BI and visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Google Looker, etc.
