About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Sales to lead the strategic sales direction across our portfolio of exhibitions and events. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, leading a high-performing sales team, and cultivating long-term relationships with clients, sponsors, and partners. Candidates must have excellent commercial acumen, a hands-on approach to sales leadership and ideally with direct experience in the trade exhibitions industry.
Responsibilities
- To learn, understand and champion the various sales initiatives including managing sales effectiveness and value-based selling.
- To be a super user of CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce), forecasting and sales dashboard.
- Ability to lead, plan resources and be part of the team.
- Contribute during budget and strategic reviews.
- To take on a trade show portfolio with sales revenue target.
- Able to sell and do sales proposals, and willingness to do direct sales with team (hands-on if needed).
- Able to conduct internal sales training and handle client objections.
- Show aptitude to collaborate with the other functions, and think strategically.
- Develop and implement the overall sales strategy for all exhibitions and events.
- Identify new revenue opportunities including exhibition space, sponsorships, and digital solutions.
- Set, track, and achieve ambitious sales targets aligned with company goals.
- Ensure consistent and accurate use CRM tools for tracking pipelines, forecasting, and performance metrics.
- Drive a culture of accountability and visibility in sales reporting and data hygiene.
- Monitor key sales KPIs and use data insights to inform strategic decisions and coaching.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team to deliver against individual and team targets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training or support needs.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, ownership, and growth.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key exhibitors, sponsors, and industry stakeholders.
- Represent the business at events, client meetings, and industry forums.
- Work closely with Project, Marketing and Operations to ensure cohesive event strategies and messaging.
- Collaborate with Finance teams on revenue forecasting and budget alignment.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, competitor offerings, and emerging client needs.
- Recommend improvements to sales packages and commercial strategy based on client feedback and market shifts.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a sales leadership role within exhibitions, B2B media, or large-scale events.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams to exceed revenue targets.
- Strong familiarity with CRM and sales reporting systems (e.g., Salesforce).
- Skilled in commercial deal-making, client engagement, and pipeline management.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Analytical and data-driven, with a bias for action.
