Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Successful candidate will lead the manufacturing engineering team to resolve daily manufacturing challenges, manufacturing process improvements, and bring breakthrough changes to our machining, assembly and supplier support, by implementing lean concepts to reduce waste and variation. This position is located in Simi Valley, California.
Responsibilities
- Reduce scrap and non-conformances by eliminating waste and variation in all forms
- Develop and implement benchmark manufacturing processes, including PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC and SMED
- Support customer by timely, accurate job estimation and compressed lead-times
- Optimize productivity through efficient, ergonomic and safe workstation and tooling designs.
- Lead cross-functional Value Analysis / Value Engineering projects to identify and execute on cost reduction opportunities to increase margin
- Project management of new equipment including evaluation, design, specification, selection, justification, acquisition, installation, training, and sign-off to manufacturing
- Create and reconcile manufacturing documentation as required by the operating procedures such as manufacturing BOMs and labor routings
- Remain current in new Manufacturing Engineering technology, new manufacturing techniques and new equipment. Recommend new approaches where feasible
- Drive lean RBS culture through the training and implementation Strategy Deployment and other RBS tools to develop best practices throughout the organization
- Developing and implementing strategies for new product development
- Demonstrates both a process approach and data driven decision making/metric skills to systematically and objectively improve company performance.
- Oversees the development of new products, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and participate in Kaizen events based on VSM Roadmaps
- Work with Manufacturing Manager to develop a robust machinist training process.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical.
- 7-10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing engineering management position or equivalent
- Strong leadership in lean environment, organizational and decision-making skills
- Candidate must have a high sense of urgency to be productive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, computer skills and interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of properties of materials, conventional and non-conventional machining processes, and secondary processes
- A commitment to continuous improvement (tools such as SPC, Lean Sigma and other Variation Reduction approaches)
- Understanding of Cutting Tool Design and Jig & Fixture Design for Production
- Understanding of precision machining including grind, lap, hone and CNC programming
- Candidates will ideally be from a close tolerance background typically found in bearing, hydraulic components or valve design and manufacturing companies

Expected Salary: $107,000 - $165,000/annually. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for this position. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, the geographic market of that location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education and internal peer compensation comparisons among other potential factors.
