Supplier Quality Engineer, Energy Storage
Essential Duties:
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will ensure that the components and subassemblies provided by external suppliers meet all functional, mechanical, and reliability requirements. You will play a crucial role in qualifying suppliers, validating new parts, and improving supplier performance during ramp and sustaining production of a high-voltage, PCBA-based energy product.
You're a doer, excited about getting your hands dirty and working in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, and want to shape a new department at Redwood.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Conduct supplier audits (process, system, product) and risk assessments to qualify new sources and ensure readiness for mass production
- Lead PPAP/FAI activities and define incoming inspection criteria based on part criticality
- Partner with GSMs, Design Engineers, and CMs to align specifications, tolerance stack-ups, and process controls
- Manage supplier non-conformances, lead 8D investigations, and follow through to verification of effectiveness (VOE)
- Create and maintain supplier scorecards with clear KPIs such as PPM, delivery performance, and responsiveness
- Support NPI builds and DFM feedback loops with early supplier engagement and pilot line walkthroughs
- Build a strong network of supplier partners with robust process maturity, reliability, and capacity
Desired Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- 4+ years of supplier quality experience in high-voltage, power electronics, automotive, or industrial hardware environments
- Deep understanding of PCBA, harnessing, connectors, and mechanical fabrication (CNC, casting, plastics)
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, SPC, DFMEA/PFMEA, and ISO9001/IATF16949 systems
- Ability to travel up to 30% to supplier locations (domestic and international)

- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Working Conditions:
- Environment, such as office or outdoors.
- Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
- Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
- Occasional work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
- Occasional travel requirements.
California Pay Range: $136,000 - $184,000 USD
