Essential Duties:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will ensure that the components and subassemblies provided by external suppliers meet all functional, mechanical, and reliability requirements. You will play a crucial role in qualifying suppliers, validating new parts, and improving supplier performance during ramp and sustaining production of a high-voltage, PCBA-based energy product.

You're a doer, excited about getting your hands dirty and working in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, and want to shape a new department at Redwood.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Conduct supplier audits (process, system, product) and risk assessments to qualify new sources and ensure readiness for mass production
  • Lead PPAP/FAI activities and define incoming inspection criteria based on part criticality
  • Partner with GSMs, Design Engineers, and CMs to align specifications, tolerance stack-ups, and process controls
  • Manage supplier non-conformances, lead 8D investigations, and follow through to verification of effectiveness (VOE)
  • Create and maintain supplier scorecards with clear KPIs such as PPM, delivery performance, and responsiveness
  • Support NPI builds and DFM feedback loops with early supplier engagement and pilot line walkthroughs
  • Build a strong network of supplier partners with robust process maturity, reliability, and capacity

Desired Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • 4+ years of supplier quality experience in high-voltage, power electronics, automotive, or industrial hardware environments
  • Deep understanding of PCBA, harnessing, connectors, and mechanical fabrication (CNC, casting, plastics)
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, SPC, DFMEA/PFMEA, and ISO9001/IATF16949 systems
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to supplier locations (domestic and international)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment, such as office or outdoors.
  • Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time.
  • Essential physical requirements, such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
  • Occasional work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
  • Occasional travel requirements.
