About the Role

The Food Service Worker & Logistics Support role is a hybrid position combining in-school food service with delivery/logistics support. As part of a 3–6 person kitchen team, you will serve healthy, made-from-scratch meals to children in schools while also assisting with 1–2 delivery routes to ensure schools receive meals, milk, and supplies on time.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys interacting with children, takes pride in providing excellent customer service, and can support both kitchen and delivery operations.

Food Service Responsibilities

  • Serve meals to students with warmth and professionalism, creating a positive and uplifting dining experience
  • Portion and present food according to Red Rabbit production and NYS guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service area at all times
  • Assist with food prep, upkeep of the service line and other cleaning as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with DOH standards through safe food handling and sanitation practices
  • Represent Red Rabbit's values when interacting with children, school staff, and teammates

Logistics Support Responsibilities

  • Complete 1–2 delivery routes, ensuring accurate and on-time delivery of meals, milk, bins, and supplies
  • Follow route sheets and communicate any issues to team leads promptly
  • Build strong relationships with school partners, providing professional and helpful service
  • Safely navigate NY streets, find alternate routes when necessary, and follow all safe driving practices
  • Relay school feedback to kitchen leaders in a timely manner

Skills & Requirements

  • 1+ year of professional food service, cafeteria, or customer service experience (schools/hospitals/restaurant a plus)
  • 5+ years of driving experience in NY with a valid NY driver's license (less than 3 points)
  • Must be able to read in English
  • Serve Safe certificate required; Food Handler's license a plus (Red Rabbit can sponsor)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills; friendly and approachable with children
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs (food service) and up to 75 lbs (logistics) on a regular basis
  • Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Passion for improving nutrition and health in schools

Additional Information

Job Type: Full Time

Typical Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (some routes may start earlier)

Location: Bronx, New York

Reports to: Head Chef

Compensation: $17 – $20/hour
