Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Manage, mentor, and support software engineers, including regular 1:1s, feedback, and career development.
  • Lead hiring and onboarding for new engineers; help shape team structure and role definitions.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Delivery & Project Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery for engineering projects, from planning and estimation through release.
  • Partner with Fraud Product Management and other stakeholders to prioritize work and align on scope and timelines.
  • Proactively identify and remove blockers; manage risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.

Technical Direction & Quality

  • Set and enforce standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and security.
  • Guide technical decisions to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with the overall architecture.
  • Promote best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD, and monitoring/observability.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Maintain and refine agile processes (e.g., sprint planning, standups, retrospectives) to improve predictability and throughput.
  • Track and use key engineering metrics (e.g., cycle time, defects, incident response) to drive improvements.
  • Ensure effective incident handling, root-cause analysis, and long-term remediation of recurring issues.

Strategic Contribution

  • Provide input into the technical roadmap and capacity planning based on team capabilities and constraints.
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional discussions, clearly communicating technical impacts and options.
