Pharmacy Services Development

The post holder will participate in the operation, development and expansion of pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (OLOL).

The role will include working with a multi-disciplinary team:

  • To further develop clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients.
  • To provide effective, efficient and safe pharmaceutical care to all oncology and haematology patients under the care of OLOL.
  • To coordinate the supply of cancer treatments from external compounding companies.

To ensure the safe supply of cancer treatments to patients using the National Cancer Information System (NCIS)

A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.

Essential Criteria

  • Professional Qualifications, Experience etc
  • i) Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so registered.
  • And

  • ii) Have at least three years satisfactory post registration hospital experience.
  • And

    • iii) Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
  • Post Specific Criteria
  • Experience in oncology and haematology pharmacy services is desirable but not essential for the post.

  • Annual Registration
  • Appointment to and continuation in posts that require statutory registration is dependent upon the post holder maintaining annual registration in the Register of Pharmacists maintained by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.

  • Health
  • A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

  • Character
  • Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character
