Systems Engineer II

Raytheon's Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities is seeking a Systems Engineer II who will support Radar test activities in Huntsville AL in support of radar analysis and ground and flight test activities. You will be responsible for engineering activities, including testing for radar development events, radar analysis, development of verification strategies for advanced radar capabilities and software builds, and the execution of the strategies within a HWIL or other simulation environment. You will work independently and side-by-side engineering team members and occasionally perform local and non-local travel to Raytheon and government facilities.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform test performance analysis utilizing modeling and simulation tools and utilize the results in support of Ground Test and Flight Test events.
  • Participate in analysis activities and products with group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks.
  • Document analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in engineering activities that include test and systems validation, modeling and simulation, requirements analysis, data analysis, and ground test and flight test analysis for strategic and tactical radars.
  • Participate in test planning, executing verification/validation events, performing analysis, and providing status updates and reach-back assistance to program engineers/leads.
  • Participate in key processes such as peer, gate, and test readiness reviews.
  • Confirm test and evaluation processes are conducted according to established procedures for software and hardware.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with test integration, test methodologies, simulation-based test environments, and data analysis.
  • Experience with basic scripting and/or software development (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and/or Linux (Red Hat Linux).
  • Systems engineering experience, specifically in integration, verification and system testing.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Demonstrated experience in test, integration, or verification and validation of X-Band family of radars, Early Warning Radars or other Missile Defense System sensors.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals.
  • Experience interfacing with internal or external customers, providing technical solutions to user requirements, analyzing radar data, and generating and maintaining technical documentation and work instructions.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Linux Operating Systems, and Shell scripting for performing integration, verification, and validation test analysis.
  • Experience with creating test procedures and test scripts.
  • Systems Engineering experience including test, integration, or verification and validation of Early Warning Radars or other Missile Defense System (MDS) sensors, understanding of radar signal and data processing, and working level experience with requirements traceability, requirements management, or documentation of IV&V products within DOORS.
  • Systems engineering activity experience and willingness to perform local and occasional non-local travel.
  • Experience assisting development of verification strategies for advanced radar capabilities and software builds, including building and executing simulated scenarios to predict sensor performance.
  • Strong individual integration skills, team interaction skills, and willingness to perform local and non-local travel.
