This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer II to join us onsite in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
Performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.
This includes analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics as well as software code, assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, level of rigor, and safety requirements compliance.
Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds.
Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process.
Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards.
Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.
Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software Developers or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.
Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor of Science degree in: System Safety, Systems Engineering, Software Development, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with test equipment & test equipment safety, in a laboratory setting, experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.
Experience interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering. Experience managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is preferred prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
