This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer I to join us onsite in Huntsville, AL.
What You Will Do
Support the execution of the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding.
Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc.
Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues.
Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations
Analyze engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.
Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code.
Participate in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.
Interface with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
Assist with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
Assist with software safety technical reviews.
Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience with risk assessment concepts, such as those in MIL-STD 882E.
Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
