Senior Tooling Stress Engineer

The Senior Tooling Stress Engineer leads the structural validation and optimization of complex manufacturing tools, jigs, and fixtures, ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational integrity. In this role, you will perform and oversee advanced static, stability, and dynamic lifting analyses for critical ground support equipment (GSE) and assembly systems. You will be responsible for making high-level technical decisions regarding complex load paths, material selection, and structural optimizations to protect high-value aerospace hardware.

As a technical lead, the Senior Engineer provides mentorship to junior staff and serves as a subject matter expert in industry safety standards (such as ASME or OSHA) and internal tooling protocols. You will drive process improvements, standardize documentation practices, and collaborate closely with design and manufacturing teams to resolve intricate technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the structural validation and optimization of complex manufacturing tools, jigs, and fixtures to ensure safety and operational integrity.
  • Perform and oversee advanced static, stability, and lifting analyses for ground support equipment (GSE) and assembly systems supporting aerospace hardware.
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex challenges related to load paths, failure modes, material selection, and structural optimization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support the development of analytical capabilities and engineering best practices within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and international teams to drive process improvements, standardization efforts, and successful project execution.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural analysis, specifically focused on tooling stress and ground support equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical projects within a collaborative environment.
  • Good understanding of load paths and failure modes.
  • Technical writing and PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with FEM tools and analysis software such as Nastran/Patran, Hypermesh, ANSYS, and hand calculations.
  • Ability to express technical problems, issues, and opportunities clearly to peers and leadership.
  • Experience using and validating software and continuous improvement tools to solve engineering problems.
  • Awareness of assigned tasks and activities related to product metrics.
  • Communication and presentation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with international teams.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Current travel visa to enter the United States.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying manual engineering processes and developing automated scripts to drive Continuous Improvement and eliminate human error.
  • Proven experience in performing Thermal Analysis, including both Steady-state and Transient simulations.
