Looking for an exciting opportunity to get exposure to software engineering in the real world? Ready to dive into the realm of communication networks and connectivity? If so, you could make a great addition to our CNS (Communications, Navigation, Surveillance) software group in Cedar Rapids, IA!

We are seeking highly motivated student engineers to support development of state-of-the-art communications systems for aircraft routers. These routers support multiple ways (Cellular, Wifi, AoIP, SATCOM, IPSec VPN) of connecting the aircraft to the ground and the airlines in their pursuit of optimizing operational efficiency, improving safety, and reducing operational and maintenance costs. These state-of-the-art embedded software solutions are primarily for our Airbus (IMO and FOMAX) and Boeing (Gateway and Core Network) customers, as well as various other commercial and government projects.

What You Will Do:

  • Support design, development, integration, and testing of our embedded software in C, C++, Ada, and Python on Linux OS for our connectivity products
  • Support design, development, integration, and testing of our customized Linux OS ecosystem, in areas such as build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, device drivers, and BSP for a wide variety of hardware boards.
  • Prepare software builds for execution in a simulation environment, reference platforms, and on the target hardware.
  • Prepare embedded test solutions that support hardware qualification activities
  • Projects that enhance our development environments and processes
  • Collaborate with other team members on a regular basis to solve challenging problems

What You Will Learn:

  • Various phases of the embedded software product life cycle including requirements, software, and verification.
  • Elements of the embedded Linux OS ecosystem lifecycle and embedded test solutions, with exposure to open-source content and third-party intellectual property.
  • Connectivity and secure networking technologies of today and tomorrow, which we count on to maintain world leadership in the avionics industry.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Prior engineering co-op or internship experience.
  • Embedded software development experience in Linux OS environment.
  • Exposure to the Linux OS ecosystem, in areas such as build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, device drivers, etc.
  • Exposure to networking and network security.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills.
