Senior Systems Engineer

At Collins Aerospace, we're modernizing Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) capabilities as part of the U.S. Department of Defense's strategic command and control military aircraft recapitalization programs.

As our next Senior Systems Engineer and as a member of our team, you will be provided with the training and tools to help grow the skills you will need to become a subject matter expert (SME) in the systems engineering lifecycle. You will learn from the best and brightest in the communications and nuclear deterrence domain working at Collins Aerospace.

This position is for Richardson, TX.

What You Will Do:

  • You will be responsible for developing and decomposing systems level requirements and associate these requirements with models you created using a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tool, SysML via Cameo.
  • Serve as a systems engineering focal to capture, analyze, decompose, model, translate and create requirements for large complex systems.
  • You will develop documentation around functional, interface and performance requirements, for hardware and software implementations, including identifying architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas.
  • You will lead and/or support technical proposals and serve as a subject matter expert during non-advocate, internal and customer reviews.
  • You will interface with both external and internal customers, using both oral and written skills, to build great working relationships with stakeholders and internal team members.
  • You will implement new design approaches, tools, and techniques based on customer needs.
  • You will be responsible for developing and tracking performance metrics and defect trends.
  • You will develop and execute systems level test plans/cases to be performed during systems level integration and testing.
  • Requires on-site presence in a classified lab space.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will learn the Collins Aerospace solutions developed for military platforms.
  • You will learn to apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to cutting edge solutions for emerging technologies.
  • You will learn SEER parametric estimation tools for proposals/bids.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain Top Secret after start.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in developing and executing systems level test plans/cases to be performed during systems level integration and testing.
  • Experience with capture, analysis and decomposition of System requirements.
  • Experience identifying, analyzing and resolving problems in all phases of the system lifecycle.
  • Experience working with customers, end users, hardware design teams, and software design teams.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with RF Systems and/or Mission Systems solutions.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) design tools (Enterprise Architect, Cameo, or equivalent) using SysML.
  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment.
  • Participating in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
