We are seeking an experienced Senior Principal System Engineer to work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL.

The Senior Principal Systems Engineer within the Systems Excellence Department contributes through all phases of the product development lifecycle (i.e. systems and software requirements, system architecture and design, software integration and test, simulation and test, integration and test, verification and sell-off), within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters needs are satisfied through every stage. This commitment to excellence can sometimes include opportunities for travel, and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met.

You will join a team of talented engineers with the responsibility of defining the requirements, design, and architecture of subsystems that comprise the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) product line, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navy's CEC, a real-time 'sensor-netting' system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. This integrated picture improves a battlegroup's effectiveness by enabling longer range, cooperative, or layered engagements. Today's CEC benefits from advancements in commercial and specialized technologies, as well as from the experience and expertise of the Collins Aerospace team, continually innovating to advance capability and performance.

What You Will Do:

  • Generate test plans/procedures for assessing CEC system performance
  • Generate test documentation for verification/acceptance of components, subsystems, and systems
  • Plan IV&V activities
  • Execute IV&V activities for multidisciplinary teams
  • Execute in-house and off-site test activities for system demonstrations and/or system sell-off
  • Brief senior program management and engineering leadership
  • Test CEC hardware and software builds
  • Lead and support requirements and algorithm development, system level designs, and system level models using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Lead automated test execution and data analysis using any combination of scripting tools, Python, MATLAB, and COTS products

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Experience with CEC, radar systems, tracking, signal processing techniques or Naval Systems
  • Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools
  • Experience with radar system concepts; detection, discrimination, track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance
  • Ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues
  • Experience working with MATLAB, C/C++, Java or DOORS
  • Analytic, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with system level requirements development, documentation and maintenance and/or requirements development and design of system level software architecture
  • Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools in support of analyzing radar requirements and performance
  • Experience and interest in Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements, determination, development and implementation
  • Experience in using AI/ML and signal processing in database and algorithm design and enhancement
  • Previous military service
