Principal Systems Engineer

Solipsys, Managed by Collins Aerospace, is an industry leader in the development of command and control software systems and operates in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced business environment with both commercial and government customers, including a mix of domestic and international pursuits and programs. We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to work onsite in Fulton, MD. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

What You Will Do:

  • In this position, you will serve as a technical lead and systems engineer on challenging software development projects such as the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) or the Battlespace Command and Control Center (BC3).
  • You will be engaged with exciting and innovative advancements in Multi-Sensor and Information Fusion, Networked Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies.
  • You will perform full life cycle systems engineering tasks including system requirements analysis, definition, architecture design, trade studies, integration, verification and validation (IV&V).
  • You will serve as Technical Leader of medium to large engineering development teams.
  • You will act as systems engineering discipline subject matter expert for department, mentoring other engineers and solving critical technical problems with innovative solutions.
  • Have the ability to travel as this position does require some travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Experience with design and requirements derivation for software.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with any of the following systems: Link 16 Tactical Data Link (J series messages), Command and Control (C2), Surveillance/Radars, Air Traffic Control, Mission Planning, Missile Systems or Combat/Fire Control systems.
  • Understand and apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the systems engineering field (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, Mil-Std-499B).
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect, and Cameo.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and applying them as a Cost Account Manager (CAM).
  • Active security clearance.
