Principal Software Engineer

Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated and talented Principal Software Engineer with a strong interest in the design, development and maintenance of full-stack AI-based enterprise applications to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing software solutions and solving complex problems, in support of the customer mission. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and validate software product(s).

What you will do:

  • The candidate must be able to work onsite at the RTX State College, PA Facility or RTX Cityline Facility in Richardson, TX and be open to travel to the other location periodically.
  • The candidate will work on program sustainment and modernization efforts spanning the product lifecycle, including customer engagement, requirements definition, software/hardware development & integration, as system test & validation as well as deployment & maintenance.
  • The candidate will work closely with the program team engaging engineers from systems, software, cybersecurity, and infrastructure to ensure the product delivery to the customer and end users is done with minimal impact to the operational execution.
  • Perform software engineering activities including but not limited to, architecture definition and maintenance, application development and maintenance testing, integration, and documentation to ensure proper operation of the product within both factory environment.
  • Adhere to accepted standards and processes for development, including participating in peer reviews, maintaining test environments & coverage, providing feedback for product improvements as well as working to ensure consistency in quality and performance.
  • Will have responsibilities directly supporting the program Chief Product Owner, executing and defining the different facets of the program: sustainment and/or modernization.
  • Will also work within the Engineering Team to ensure the overall system execution is reliable, maintainable, and deployable while always meeting operational performance.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Minimum 8 years working experience in object-oriented software design and development using Java.
  • Software and system-level architectural skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to prioritize and make data-driven decisions.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience with Selenium
  • Experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
  • RHEL certification
  • Security+ certification.
  • Nessus/ACAS experience
