Project Engineer
The Project Engineer directs and oversees all phases of Avionics FPGA/ASIC programs from inception to completion, coordinating all technical, administrative, and operational aspects. In this highly visible role, you will represent Collins as the primary engineering customer contact and work across different internal and external functions to drive program tasks and activities. You will provide program level technical support to lead root cause and corrective action in support of any issues across the project/program.
What You Will Do:
- Develops project plans, schedules, and budgets for small to mid-size projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget.
- Record and document delays, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth project operations.
- Drives the integrated project team to the integrated master schedule and works to maintain that schedule with the project planner.
- Pursues all cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
- Performs critical path analysis and prepares and implements work-around plans to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Conducts meetings, consolidates, and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s).
- Creation of DO-254 DAL-A certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH).
- Identifies and reacts to project problems and recommends solutions, such as reallocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
- Participates and leads process improvement pursuits.
- Participate in FAA SOI audits.
- Create engineering bids and support RFIs and RFPs
- Manages procurement of hardware to meet program schedule and budget.
- Communicate well with a wide variety of individuals including Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership and customers.
- Provides technical guidance and leadership to the project team. Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Experience working with cross functional teams
- Understanding of project management methodologies.
- Experience using project management software and tools (MS Office and/or MS Project etc.).
- Experience communicating and presenting data and program updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, as part of a team of engineers with a variety of skills and backgrounds, located throughout the world and matrixed into projects with aggressive schedules and frequent milestones.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- PMP certification
- Experience leading projects from project planning to completion
- Experience using Jira, Jama solutions during product development
- Preferred experience working in the aerospace and/or defense industries
- Experience with DO-254 processes and design assurance activities for ASIC, FPGA, and/or SoPC developments.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
