Principal Engineer – Aerothermal

We are seeking a highly experienced Aerothermal Engineer to lead advanced simulation efforts in aerothermal sciences, with a strong focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis. This role involves ownership of complex fluid-thermal problems across aerospace platforms, including external aerodynamics, internal flow systems, and conjugate heat transfer (CHT).
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership in Multiphase and Multiphysics simulations, drive innovation in modeling methodologies, and mentor engineering teams while collaborating across design, test, and program functions.
Qualification:
- Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
- Strong understanding about Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics, Electronics packaging, Multi phase and multi physics
- Demonstrated expertise in Thermal Testing and correlation with analysis results
- Good Knowledge in Aerospace standards like DO-160, Boeing and Airbus requirements, materials and Manufacturing processes
- Manage and execute complex flow problems using CFD and other analytical tools and methods
- Proficiency in using tools like ANSYS Fluent, Star CCM+,ICEPAK is must
- Strong understanding of numerical methods, discretization schemes, and solver behavior. Experience with mesh generation, grid independence studies, and solution convergence.
- Exposure to Optislang, Icing analysis, FENSAP and knowledge in programming languages like Python is an added advantage.
- Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end CFD and thermal simulation activities for aerospace products.
- Perform and oversee external aerodynamics and internal flow analysis, including compressible, turbulent, and advanced Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) simulations.
- Develop and execute multiphase flow models (e.g., Mixing, Icing, Evaporation). Drive Multiphysics simulations integrating fluid flow, heat transfer, structural interaction, and, where applicable, chemical reactions.
- Optimize designs for thermal performance, aerodynamic efficiency, and Thermal Compliance.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, structures, materials, and testing.
- Contribute to proposal development, technical reviews, and customer presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects and teams.
