Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Collins Aerospace has the capabilities, comprehensive portfolio, and expertise to solve customers' toughest challenges and to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global market.
The Mission Systems Environmental Effects Engineering team at Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior EMC/EMI Electrical Engineer to join our staff. This position will be responsible to support the dynamic day to day pre-qualification and qualification testing for products and sub-systems of moderate to high complexity.
This position is part of a larger team that performs a variety of TEMPEST, Nuclear, Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference (EMC/EMI) and Power Input qualification testing of Company products and programs to various military and commercial industry standards.
The Environmental Effects Engineering (EEE) lab is a world-class, full-service, 18,000 sqft (and growing) Environmental Qualification Test Lab located in Cedar Rapids, IA capable of creating nearly any environment required in the avionics industry. While EEE reports up through Mission Systems, they support all testing for Collins Aerospace and Raytheon Technologies as needed. EEE services not only include a full suite of Climatics, Dynamic, EMI, EMC, Lightning, and TEMPEST test capabilities; their industry experts also offer design support, analysis, test failure troubleshooting, root cause analyses, and much more.
In this role, you will be a key contributor working with a team of experienced Electromagnetic Compatibility/Interference (EMC/EMI) engineers to perform EMC/EMI and Power Input qualification testing of Company products and programs for various military and commercial industry standards; particularly MIL-STD-461 and DO-160. You will advise design engineers on EMC aspects affecting their program. You will lead all pre-testing activities for assigned projects including the preparation of test plans and procedures. During test events, you will ensure correct set-up and equipment usage for the various tests and ensure correct and appropriate data is collected. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to produce and release a complete test report.
Beyond technical duties, you will utilize strong communication skills to support production services, communicate technical results, present findings to customers and mid-level managers, and coordinate with departments such as Business Development, Finance, and Operations. This position requires you to independently handle multiple projects and tasks.
