Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to perform conceptual and detailed mechanical designs within the Electronic Warfare Mechanical Design Hardware Department. The section specializes in the design, integration, verification, and production of digital processor and RF receiver subsystems for airborne platforms. The candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program/functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met. Contacts are primarily with the immediate section manager, team lead, project leaders, and other personnel (peers) within the applicable program.

What You Will Do

• You will be a technical contributor to the programs and products supported by the department. These activities include the design of structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, and electronic enclosures of RF systems for challenging thermal and high vibration environments.
• You will contribute to the design of RF systems, and be responsible for compiling artifacts and presenting at internal design reviews.
• You will be releasing and modifying engineering documentation within the product lifecycle management software (PTC Windchill). This includes engineering drawings, analysis, and any other artifacts that are critical to the design.
• Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and general knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Draft communications, create and deliver presentations.
• Work independently and as a team member.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with 3-D modeling using Creo or other CAD tools.
• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods, and/or reading mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Additional CAD and analysis software experience.
• Prior experience in Defense or Aerospace.
• Experience with EW/Radar Systems or RF Products.
• Working knowledge of environmental testing equipment, procedures, and qualification activities.
• Experience with managing budget and schedule.
• Previous experience with design reviews including preparation of chart decks, generating design artifacts and presenting to customers.
• Experience with electronics packaging, cabling and harness design, or printed wiring board designs and routing.
• Experience with structural and thermal analysis using FEA modeling techniques.
• COTS/MOTS Design and Development.
• Existing DoD Security Clearance.

The salary range for this role is $72,000 - $144,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
