Manufacturing Engineer II
Ready to take your engineering career to new heights? Join our team at Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA, as a Manufacturing Engineer II. In this pivotal role, you'll be contributing to the fabrication of egress parts and assemblies for our customers.
This position allows you to apply your knowledge and experience in tooling manufacturing methods and techniques, root-cause corrective actions, and quality investigations, and to resolve interpretation concerns while providing direct support to operations personnel.
The role will work 2nd Shift and will be on a 4/10 shift, Monday to Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM.

What You Will Do
- You will work onsite in Fairfield, CA, sitting on the production floor.
- You will be in charge of a whole building, consisting of several fabrication cells and processes.
- Plan manufacturing operations, develop and maintain associated manufacturing documents, standard work, and work instructions.
- Perform root cause analysis and problem-solving to improve production-related issues. Responsible for implementing corrective action or countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Seek new solutions to improve producibility and process capability, using and driving lean techniques to improve cost and quality metrics
- Help drive smart factory solutions and other engineering techniques to strengthen process capability.
- Interface and work with Production Operators, Design, Quality & other Manufacturing Engineers to solve problems, improve manufacturability of products and ensure products are manufactured in compliance with drawings and specifications.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) access.
- Previous experience directly supporting a manufacturing line
- CAD experience (Computer Aided Design)
Qualifications We Prefer
- BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degrees are desired as they are the only degrees that provide a pathway to a potential future MRB Engineer role.
- Prior experience or exposure to the metal fabrication processes (fusion welding, heat treat, vacuum brazing, 5-axis machining, especially with titanium and Inconel materials or aluminum honeycomb).
- Experience with MRP system for BOM and production planning management, SAP preferred.
- Experience in application of Lean, through Continuous Improvement events.
- Experience with data analysis tools to be used in capability studies and problem solving and the ability to understand 3D model-based definition and knowledge of GD&T.
