The Facilities Engineer is responsible for contributing to the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Facilities Engineering department, which along with the associated manufacturing departments are responsible for limiting process downtime, extending equipment life, and selecting new equipment that supports the production process. This position is expected to impact business level objectives, assist in setting and achieving departmental objectives, assist in the development of strategic plans, and have an impact across multiple sites. The Facilities Engineer will complete engineering design of projects, assist in facility planning, implement continuous improvement projects, and support preventative maintenance, mechanical integrity and Process Safety Management programs. This position reports to the Facilities Engineering Manager.
This is an onsite position located in Pueblo, CO. Relocation assistance is available.
What You Will Do:
- Identify and manage projects in the $5K to $10M+ range for the Facilities and Operations areas.
- Track project expenses and timelines to plan and budget.
- Lead cross-functional and cross-site teams including engineering, maintenance, quality, and production.
- Develop equipment, systems, processes, and procedures for Pueblo facility and other Carbon Operation sites.
- Utilize knowledge of engineering and process industry to complete equipment selection, system layout, design and P&ID's.
- Prepare presentations and communicate proposed projects and their associated risks to the management team.
- Develop detailed requests for quotations for engineering services, facilities, equipment, and construction services.
- Review and address internal and external customer requirements as they relate to Facilities and Operations needs.
- Assist the Environmental, Health, and Safety department in ensuring that all environmental regulations are met.
- Design and manage installation of site infrastructure modifications.
- Assist the Instrumentation department in specifying and implementing instrumentation and control equipment.
- Ability to work in a self-directed capacity while managing multiple projects.
- Interface with and manage vendors and suppliers for cost effectiveness.
- Assist other departments and complete other duties as assigned.
- Promote and lead Continuous Improvement / CORE activities.
- Maintain a high commitment to quality, thoroughness and efficiency in all work aspects.
- Observe and follow all quality, environmental, health and safety procedures.
- Comply with all other Collins policies and procedures
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications We Prefer:
- BS in Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Distributed Control System programming experience preferred
- Lean Manufacturing (CI / CORE) experience
- Project management experience
- AutoCAD experience
- Ability to read Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Comprehension of complex process and facilities problems, apply creativity and drive towards problem resolution.
- Experience communicating in both oral and written formats
- Experience with business applications software such as the MS Office products.
- Previous experience with contactor management
