Senior Program Manager

RTX/Collins is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead multiple small-scale programs focused on enhancing and sustaining a defense communications system that provides secure communication capabilities. This role involves managing approximately 15-20 concurrent efforts with an annual value of $15M, that address capability upgrades, technology insertions, sustainment and design re-spins driven by component obsolescence or evolving mission needs.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on program manager with strong skills in execution, team coordination, and customer engagement, who thrives in a dynamic environment where agility, technical understanding, and disciplined program controls are key to success.

This is an Onsite position at our Marlborough, MA facility. Relocation is not provided.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the primary program lead for multiple active contracts or projects, each focused on incremental enhancements to an existing fielded defense product.
  • Manage program execution across cost, schedule, and technical performance, ensuring timely delivery of deliveries, updates and design refreshes.
  • Achieve Annual Operating Plan financial commitments including orders, sales, margin, cash flow and accurate forecasting of monthly performance
  • Work closely with engineering to oversee hardware/software re-spins and capability upgrades.
  • Engage regularly with government customers to report status, manage expectations, and respond to evolving requirements or field issues.
  • Coordinate internal resources and suppliers across multiple disciplines including systems engineering, software, hardware, supply chain and manufacturing.
  • Apply standard program controls such as risk and issue management, configuration control, and Earned Value Management (as applicable).
  • Support the preparation of technical and cost proposal for contract modifications, follow-on efforts, or related new work.
  • Maintain compliance with all export control and government contracting requirements (e.g., ITAR, DFARS).

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance (Secret) is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Typically requires: Bachelor's degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years of experience
  • 5-8 years of experience in program or project management in the aerospace, defense, or government contracting sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small- to mid-sized technical programs involving hardware and software deliverables.
  • Strong working knowledge of and demonstrated experience with business and project management tools and processes such as EVMS, IMS/IMP, Risk Management, Financial Forecasting, EAC
  • Familiarity with defense communication systems
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience managing product sustainment, design refresh, or obsolescence-driven development programs.
  • PMP certification or equivalent training in program management.
  • Exposure to cost estimating, BOE generation, and proposal writing for follow-on or modification efforts.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
