Configuration Management Engineer

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Configuration Management Engineer to support system configuration management functions associated with monitoring and controlling virtualized computer environments. This role supports the Common Mission Control Center (CMCC) program, located at Beale AFB, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Documentation Support: Process developing hardware, software and documentation policies, procedures, instructions, guidance while ensuring that they are followed on hardware and software development projects
  • CM Planning: Author, peer review, release, execute, and maintain product line/program CM Plans in accordance with contractual requirements supported by the RTX quality management system CM policy and procedures
  • Ensure the aspects of authored CM Plans address all 5 major CM elements to include: configuration management/planning, configuration identification, configuration change management, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification and audit
  • Configuration Identification: Ensure configuration items are defined, product configuration information material identification strategies are documented, baselines are defined and managed
  • Configuration Change Management: Define and document deficiency report review board/change control board (DRRB/CCB) charter authorized to establish baselines, maintain backlogs, and disposition change requests to the established baselines.
  • Utilize peer review, change management and version control systems in support of an engineering development methodology (i.e., Agile, waterfall, spiral) through a full lifecycle to establish and maintain product/program baselines
  • Configuration Verification and Audit: Plan, implement and communicate informal CM Surveillance audits throughout a product/program lifecycle. When required by contract, support the planning, conduct and closure of physical configuration audits (PCAs)
  • Configuration Status Accounting: Document and or access CM logs, records and metrics representing CM Activity Reports to ensure that current and historical configuration of system/products can be accurately determined throughout the product life cycle
  • Teaming: Working with cross functional teams in development, upgrades, and maintenance of CM databases and repositories to ensure data quality, integrity, and security in the CM database
  • Problem Solving: Analyze configuration issues and define appropriate resolutions and action items for the team
  • Management Support: Assist management to deliver effective and efficient solutions by meeting key project milestones and ensuring project configuration deliverables are on time and adhere to the standards

Qualifications You Must Have

  • 3-5 years' experience with CM Plan authoring and execution in engineering development environments
  • Experience in full lifecycle configuration management planning and implementation
  • Knowledge and proficiency with industry standard CM tools addressing change management, version control, software builds, and release management, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and electronic workflows
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Active and transferrable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program clearance and access.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
