AI Engineer

The Collins Aerospace Digital Technology Artificial Intelligence team delivers value through machine learning and AI services. We are seeking an early-career AI Engineer to develop, deploy, and support AI applications.

This is a hybrid position that requires the candidate to be within driving distance of a major Collins Aerospace facility.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the development of AI applications and products.
  • Design, evaluate, deploy, and maintain AI/ML models and solutions.
  • Provide production support for existing and future models, data pipelines, and solutions.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex problems with occasional guidance and support.
  • Possess the drive to dive deep, thrive and progress even in uncertain or undefined situations.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand project needs & challenges; support the team to generate and execute plans which deploy appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and create documentation helping to ensure all development projects meet the applicable requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position (U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder).
  • Typically requires a University Degree and less than 2 years prior relevant experience If position is Engineering/Other Technical Position.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 5% of the time.
  • Technical education and experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
  • Experience programming in Python.
  • Coursework in Statistics, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience using development tools/environments such as AWS, Databricks, Linux, Ubuntu, Bash, Conda, pip, VS Code, Spyder, Git + Github, GPU's, REST APIs.
  • Experience developing in python with relevant libraries (i.e. Pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow, Unstructured.io, LangChain, Haystack)
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes (CI/CD), testing, and delivery for existing and new team products.
  • Experience developing and training models for Computer Vision, Conversational AI, Natural Language Processing, Decision Support, Ranking/Recommendations, Speech and Audio.
  • Experience with data pipelines, data processing, database querying, and MLOps workflows.
  • Exposure to AI research, theory and innovation. Interest in the intersection of AI and Complexity Science. Familiarity with Agentic AI.

The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
