Mechanical Design Engineer

What You Will Do

  • Design, integrate, and test mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure successful hardware performance.
  • You'll work with quick-turn fabrication houses to develop mass mockup hardware
  • Responsible for basic material selection and tolerance analyses

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in mechanical design, development, and/or test of aerospace or defense-related components or systems.
  • Experience with Creo (ProE) with both mechanical design and/or drafting, and/or using Windchill.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the defense industry
  • Proposal support experience (writing Basis of Estimates and providing inputs for material estimating)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for technical analysis, data sorting/plotting, and technical documentation
  • Master of Science (MS) in Engineering
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and drawing practices and interpretation for mechanical hardware
  • Experience with thermal and structural analyses or with analysts to specify requirements and design to environments
  • Experience in airframe development, electronics packaging, mechanisms, for missiles or similar applications

  • Relocation Eligibility

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
