System Design Engineer

As a System Design Engineer within the Effectors: System Design Department, you will interface with the customer to develop CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies. You will support engineering testing, integration and flight-testing, production, system deployment, and post deployment support across the product lifecycle. Through Digital Transformation (DTx) you will perform these functions using a variety of methods and enabling technologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development.

This position is an onsite role in Tucson, AZ. What you will do:

• Requirements decomposition and lower tier requirements derivation for the system. Requirements development and maturation to include subsystem and component level.
• Develop system architectures that meet the system performance and interface requirements.
• Perform trade studies on the best solutions to develop the system.
• Establish verification and validation techniques for requirements at all indentureships of complex systems to include application of simulation, testing, analysis, and demonstration.

Qualifications you must have:

• Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
• Matlab and/or C++ experience
• This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications we prefer:

• Specific majors: Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
• A cumulative GPA of 3.00
• Experience or coursework in System Design
• Modeling and Simulation experience
• Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
• Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills
• Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems
• Proven strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
• Basic Engineering skills and interest in how systems are developed and function
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
