We are providing observability solutions to all Rakuten engineers and our mission is to reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery) to minimize business impact from system incidents. In recent years, Observability is getting more crucial because of adopting microservices architecture. Since there are huge monitoring targets, e.g, tens of thousands of bare metal servers and VMs and hundreds of thousands of containers, our challenge is to develop and provide observability features while keeping our platform stable with enough reliability and scalability. In addition, since we're working on AIOps utilizing big observability data in our platform, several features/services are going to be integrated with AI technology.

Since we provide an observability platform as a service, we're really seeking a person who can see our platform from user's point of view and manage to make a plan to improve and to execute it to realize. Our mission is, with our observability features, to reduce MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery) to minimize business impact from system incidents. This position is required to figure out user requirements correctly and come up with features get things done.

This position is required a variety of skills, not only product management but also project management, technical knowledge because you will have to make the product improved with "getting things done" mind under complex restrictions and rules. We're seeking a good product manager who will get our mission done successfully together with perseverance and strong leadership.

We're seeking a product manager who is required the following conditions:

• Product/Project management with solid leadership
• Ability to visualize user requirements and issues with concise documents and diagrams structured
• Ability to come up with solutions with logical thinking in collaboration with stakeholders
• Basic infrastructure knowledge (Kubernetes/Container/Linux)
• Basic software design/implementation/test knowledge

The following experiences/skills are nice-to-have:

• Software development experience as an engineer
• Infrastructure construction and development experience
• People management experience

Product manager is required to get the following jobs done in cooperation with users and engineers:

• Requirements analysis (who will use what and how)
• Feature/Service design (how it works with platform/infrastructure)
• Design review (as a reviewer and a reviewee)
• Support development lifecycle (e.g., facilitating Scrum events)
• Release (including release judgement process)
• Support troubleshooting (On-Call duty)
• Support operations
• User support (if any inquiries about services/features)

Mandatory Qualifications:

• Strong sense of responsibility to release features/services by deadline
• 3 years experience of software development projects as a product/project manager

Desired Qualifications:

• Master/Bachelor's degree of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related fields
• Experience in large scale system development
• Experience in system maintenance with multiple monitoring tools (prometheus, cortex, grafana, datadog, newrelic, elasticsearch, kibana, etc).
