The Rakuten Group, Inc. continues to expand its business, and the infrastructure platform that supports it also continues to expand. In addition to maintaining stable operation, various projects are underway for new expansions. We are seeking a highly motivated Data Center Operation Staff to contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our expanding data center infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in maintaining system uptime, resolving technical issues, and supporting the growth of our company's critical services.
The Data Center Operation Staff is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the data center infrastructure. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to ensure the continuous availability and optimal performance of the data center.
1. Monitoring and Maintenance
- Monitor data center infrastructure, including servers, network devices, power systems (UPS, generators), and cooling systems (CRAC units)
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as hardware inspections, filter replacements, and battery checks
- Respond to alerts and alarms, troubleshooting issues and escalating as necessary
2. Incident Management
- Participate in incident response and resolution, following established procedures
- Document incidents and resolutions accurately and thoroughly
- Assist in root cause analysis to prevent future incidents
3. Operational Support
- Provide on-site support for hardware installations, upgrades, and decommissioning
- Manage cabling and ensure proper organization within the data center
- Maintain accurate inventory of data center assets
- Escort vendors and contractors within the data center
4. Security and Compliance
- Adhere to data center security policies and procedures
- Monitor access control systems and report any security breaches
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
5. Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of data center procedures, configurations, and layouts
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a data center or IT operations environment
- Basic understanding of server hardware, networking concepts, and power/cooling systems
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and follow established procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science)
- Experience with data center monitoring tools and systems
- Knowledge of ITIL best practices
- Familiarity with data center security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2)
- Experience with specific hardware or software platforms used in the data center
