Solution Architect / Tech Consultant

The Global Ad Technology Supervisory Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross-functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across five countries: Japan, Singapore, India, China and UK.

Our vision is to empower our internal and external stakeholders by providing data driven marketing solutions by developing the Ad delivery, Audience Management, Tracking, Reporting and Data Sync Platforms. Joining us, you will be able to challenge yourself in a wide range of technologies in the frontline of heavy traffic large scale ad applications and platforms, including high performance system development and big data processing systems. Also, you will be able to work about latest digital advertising and Ad platform because we also closely work with outside Ad platformer as well.

In the platform team, we have positions who have comprehensive knowledge of the platforms and provide total solution for business requirement by combining of multiple platform components.

We're looking for a Solution Architect / Tech Consultant who supports internal marketing team and ad product development Team in digital advertising area from technology perspective. You will be responsible for planning solution for essential issue of our clients, sales team and product teams, while also having both a technical and business perspective, and working with the development teams to drive projects forward. You will also drive technical collaboration between teams across multiple countries, organizations and functions. You will be required to accelerate Rakuten's advertising business while making the most of our assets inside and outside Rakuten, and there are plenty of opportunities to pursue a further career as a customer success.

Technical Support for Rakuten Ichiba Marketing, Rakuten Ichiba Advertisement, various Rakuten Group Services.

Rakuten Ichiba is a top e-commerce service in Japan and one of the largest advertisers in the world. In this position, you will be responsible for working with the marketing team to develop digital marketing initiatives to contribute to Rakuten Ichiba's growth, devising technical solutions, providing integration support for solutions, and working with each development team to drive the project forward.

Also, you will be supports product development using Rakuten Big Data which is one of the largest and the most accurate data in Japan. You will be responsible for working with the product development team to study product strategy and devise the necessary technical solutions, and then work with each system development team to drive the project forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and identify essential business issues for customers and sales/product teams, and provide the right solutions.
  • Understand business requirements, goals and KPIs and collaborate with multiple technical teams inside and outside Rakuten to deliver solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Support the implementation of realized business solutions.
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders on the business side with different knowledge and backgrounds to identify the functional requirements for the marketing platform.
  • Investigate the cutting-edge ad technology, industry trends and volatile business environment to support business requirements.
  • Partner with a program manager and delivery managers in prioritization and planning for solution development by flexibly responding to the constantly evolving business environment, social conditions, and competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organizational and cross-border teams to integrate with internal and external systems, platforms, and services.
  • Drive or participate in technology vendor discussions, evaluations, and selections.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in developing, planning or definition of system requirements related systems for digital advertising while communicating directly with clients or business side stakeholders.
  • Experience in web (or App) application development (Programming, System design).
  • Ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholder.
  • Experience in project planning and execution.
  • Strong get-things-done mind with a sense of ownership.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving ability.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT industry including system development or product planning/Sales experience.
  • Fluent Japanese speaker or have N2 Level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or have equivalent qualifications or business level skills.
  • Fluent English speaker or TOEIC score of 800 or higher, or equivalent skills or qualifications.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in digital advertising operation or product planning
  • Pre-sales experience (regardless of digital advertising)
  • Experience in product planning or PDM (regardless of digital advertising)
  • Experience as an IT consultant
  • Coordination between stakeholders with different interests
  • Experience of working with stakeholders outside of Japan
